Obituary for Carole Ann Peterson

Carole A. (Gallagher) Peterson, of Quincy, MA and Sarasota, FL.

We are saddened to share the passing of our dear sister, cherished aunt, and loyal friend, Carole Ann (Gallagher) Peterson, on March 24, 2024 in Sarasota, FL after a brief illness.

Originally from Dorchester, Carole was the loving daughter of the late Joseph J. and Dorothy M. (Page) Gallagher and beloved wife of the late Fred Peterson. Carole leaves sisters, Denise Gallagher of Sarasota, Debbie (Gallagher) Osterman of Bridgewater, MA, a brother, Paul Gallagher of Sarasota, eight nieces and nephews, fifteen grand nieces and nephews, and an abundance of close friends and relatives.

A successful executive in the insurance industry, shortly after retirement Carole moved from Quincy and eagerly relocated to Sarasota in order to join family and further explore the next chapters of her life. There, she maintained long-term relationships while developing many new friendships, undertaking new adventures, and discovering much joy. Carole was also a proud ally of Bill W. For many, many years.

Services will be at a later date in MA. Donations in Carole’s memory may be made to: Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 or to a charity of your choice.

I was so sorry to read that Carole had passed. I first met Carole at The Renaissance in Sarasota when we were forced to evacuate because of a false fire alarm. We became friends and enjoyed many lunches and shopping expeditions over the years. Carole always knew the latest new restaurants to try and, of course, the best thrift shops to visit. I Iive in Canada and therefore was not here at all during the pandemic and even last year, my husband's poor health meant we were only here for a few weeks but I did visit Carole in rehab. Since then, we traded many calls but I had no idea she was so sick. Carole was a lovely person and a delight to be with. I am so sorry for her struggles at the end and that I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. Please accept my sincere condolences. Wendy Gray

To Carole's family and loved one. I am very sorry for your loss. I met Carole 18 years ago and immediately I knew that she was special, and I wanted to what she had in her soul. Carole was kind, supportive, smart and an inspiration to others. Over the years we shared so many laughs, and long conversations, many of which were about how much she loved her family-all of you. She was always so proud to have you all in her life. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to share Carole in my life too. Carole knew the right thing to say when we needed it the most. I grow to love Carole and I knew that I was so very lucky to have her as my dear friend. There are truly no words to express how Carole touched so many lives in a positive way. She was simply wonderful in every way possible. I hope you find some peace in knowing that Carole was loved by so many people, especially throughs who are a friend of Bill W.

My Mother, Rita FitzGerald LeClair, was Joe's cousin. I fondly remember both Joe and Dot and also Carole. Ethel would spend holidays at my brother's home with us. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.
