Obituary for Cornell Hodges

Homecoming for Cornell Hodges also known as Peewee, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, in Johnston, Rhode Island. He was born on July 15, 1936, in Thomasville, North Carolina, he was the second oldest out of 10 siblings, he was six years old when he came to Boston, his parents were Joseph Hodges and Evelyn Ijames, and his wife Jean Spencer-Hodges who preceded him in death.

He leaves behind 7 children, Evelyn Hodges, Kevin Hodges, Darryl Hodges, Joseph Hodges, Aaron Jones, Yolanda Hughes-Jones, Johnny Cornell Hodges all of Boston, Mass., and 1 son that preceded him in death, Clarence Jones, Cornell has 21 grand and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Nettie Jones of Richmond, Virginia and one brother Grady Hodges of Roxbury, Mass. and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Cornell was raised in Boston, Mass. and attended Sherwood High School. Cornell was a little man with a big voice. He had a passion for gospel, and sung with the Bibletones and Spiritual Encouragers. He also owned several businesses throughout his life, he also loved playing cards with his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Thursday, April 11th from 12-1PM. Funeral Service to begin at 1:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Private.
