Obituary for Cynthia Ann Ahern

Cynthia “Cindy” Ann (Lamb) Ahern, 62, of Rockland, beloved wife for 40 years of Gerard T. Ahern, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 4, 1963, and raised in Mattapan, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Megarry) Lamb, with Alice having come to America in 1946 from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Cindy was a graduate of St. Gregory High School in Dorchester.

Cindy was a confidant to all who sought her counsel, and she was honest to a fault beyond her control. She enjoyed the comfort of company around a backyard fire, the summer sunshine by the poolside with the shared laughs of friends and family, and the familiar comfort of a high-top table on the bar side of the restaurant so she could see the Keno TV and watch her numbers.

Committed to her children, Cindy dedicated her life to raising them. Family gatherings were a joy to her. A loving mother and Nana, she will forever be missed by her four children and their spouses, Katelyn Ahern of Pembroke; Gerard and Ally Ahern of Whitman; Andrew and Leah Ahern of Mattapan; and Michael Ahern of Dorchester; as well as her adored grandchildren, Gerard “Little Gerry” and Madison Ahern, Lucy Ahern, and two more grandchildren on the way. The youngest of six children, she is survived by her siblings, Edward Lamb, Kenneth Lamb, June Morrissey, Brian Lamb, and Nancy O’Brien.

Flowers are welcome. However, in lieu of flowers, consider playing a 5-spot Keno game in her memory with her numbers: 04, 07, 11, 22, 63.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Monday, February 2nd from 4-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue, DORCHESTER on Tuesday, February 3rd at 10AM. Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.

Ahhh Cindy. How sad we all are. You were the baby of the family and loved more than you know by all. A down to earth person who always loved a chat. Loved your family fiercely and were always there for them. I will fondly remember you best at the "clam bake" eating more steamers than anyone could imagine and loving it! Followed by your share of lobsters. I can recall carrying you around in my paper bag: ) when I was a kid. So now you are back with Mom and Dad. You were the apple of Dad's eye for sure. I will love and miss you for the rest of my days...I know if anyone could send a sign...it's you : ) May you rest in the sweetest peace my little sister... I love you Brian

My heart is broken. I can't believe you are gone. We've been friends for 57 yrs. We've been thru a lot and did alot together. Hanging on the wall. Learning to skateboard down Standard st. Learning to drive. That was a venture with you. Summer time down the cape at Eddie's. Babysitting ALL your nieces n nephews. First communion and High school together. Being in each others weddings. Then playing catch when we could. And getting together for lunch and dinner when I was home. My heart aches knowing I will never see you and you smile and hear your goofy laugh. Rest In Peace my Dear Friend Love you 😢😢

Cindy and I share a unique bond. As brother and sister in a family of 6 kids, I was the oldest and she the youngest. AND, we were both born in the 4th of July! 🇺🇸 That always made us both feel special! As the 'baby' of the family, she held a special place in our parent's hearts. She always felt she missed something being the youngest as her older siblings were older, out of the house and establishing their families. And, she would remind us of that! She amazed us all the time with her 'rain man' type memory that was almost uncanny. If we forgot a date or events, or a person, we would always ask Cindy....'she would know'. She was a great mom. Watching her kids grow up to be what they are today is certainly something both her and big Gerry should be proud of. She was my little sister and I will miss her very much. And, every 4th of July going forward will be a little sadder. Love you Cindy ❤️ Ed
