Obituary for Diana V. Phillips

Diana Phillips, 86, passed away on April 24, 2025 with her loving children and grandchildren
surrounding her and serving her. Originally born in St Kitts, British West Indies, moved to Dorchester, MA, with her eight children and late husband Charles Phillips in 1974.

She graduated from The University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelors in Elementary Education in 1989. Diana is survived by her children Veronica, Alexander, Jeremiah (predeceased), John, Bernadette, Belinda, Virginia, Charles, Jr. and Lydia. Her grandchildren, Nicolas, Ariel, Brandon, Myranda, Daniela, Michael, Kenneth, Eckstrom and great-grandchildren Keanu and Cali.

No matter where Diana went, she had a love for people and sharing the Word of God with them. She faithfully read her Bible daily and prayed even more often. Her heart was always open to serve. Diana taught all her children and grandchildren about God, being Christians and giving their lives to Christ. She loved music and praised God with His songs. She also taught her children how to read using the Bible. Diana had an unwavering love for her grandchildren, never hesitant to babysit and take her grandkids on a journey around the Dorchester neighborhood. Her grandchildren all have beautiful memories, from taking them to the Nutcracker to simply riding the trolley in Mattapan.

Diana was a proud and devoted member of Faith Cristian Church. She was never hesitant to invite others to Sunday service or Bible study, even if it was a zoom link to join remotely! Her generosity reached many charitable organizations. Diana was sure to care for her neighbors by ensuring she kept a stocked freezer in case she heard of someone in need! The true definition of a missionary in her community.

Diana had a love for gardening. Every place she has lived there was surely a garden to be grown and well kept by her. She treated her family as the most important garden she would grow. Her love, like water for boundless growth and her warm hugs always to keep us rooted and close together. Although Diana is no longer physically with us, we will be
reminded of her unwavering loyalty to the Lord, her children and tending to God's garden by acknowledging the blooming flowers and the willowing of the leaves in the trees.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1st at the Faith Christian Church, 301 Harvard St., DORCHESTER at 12:00 pm. Interment will be held at Eastern Cemetery, St. Thomas, VIRGIN ISLANDS, at a later date. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1st at the Faith Christian Church, 301 Harvard St., DORCHESTER from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm prior to the service.

I met this beautiful lady at a church when I was a teenager in St. Thomas, USVI. Fast forward any years later we met in a grocery store in Boston and she recognized me and even called my name. It was like having and extra mother and I loved her and we have checked in on each other ever since that day. The last two years, she joined my PRAYER group, that saw folks joining us from T&T, Jamaica, Nevis, St Thomas USVI and all across the USA. We prayed with her for all she's been through and for her children. I LOVE you Sis Diana, rest in the arms of your Father!

I knew the late Diana Phillips since I was a little boy in the village of Parson's Ground in St. Kitts.,My cousin Diana lived with my grand mother Mrs Simpson and later moved to Verchild' s Village in St.Kitts before she got married and migrated to St. St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. As a little boy I was very fond of her and loved her very much but once moved away to Verchilds and Thomas I could not see her any more abd lost contact with her. I last saw her in 2005 when I visited the USA for the funeral service of my late aunt Mrs Rise Jacob. I last spoke to her by phone when I visited my cousin Jacinth on Jacksonville, USA in 2022. I know that she was a.believer in the Lird Jesus so I know I will see her again. I know her soul will rest in eternal peace. Cousin, James Samuel Simpson
