Obituary for Donna Sullivan

Donna Sullivan, 61 of Weymouth, died unexpectedly on January 4, 2026. Beloved daughter of the late Margaret F. and Donald F. Sullivan and loving sister to the late Diane Sullivan-Dodd.

She is survived by her brother Donald and his wife Kim, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Donna was born and raised in Dorchester’s Mattapan and Neponset areas along with her sister Diane and brother Donny. In later years her family moved to Quincy, MA.

Family gatherings were always a very important part of Donna’s upbringing from childhood days attending celebrations and holidays at her grandparents’ home in Mission Hill to celebrating holidays and events at her brothers home in her adult years and many summertime cookouts and Christmases at her Uncle Franny’s home.

Donna was just a loving, caring, generous and funny soul. She was the fun aunt, the playful one, a little bit of a prankster. She was the aunt who never forgot your birthday, even many years into adulthood or to always send you a card at Easter and at Christmas time.

Donna loved listening to her music especially while she was on walks and during simple relaxing times just sitting by the beach. Donna didn’t learn to drive until later in life but once she did she loved the independence it brought.

Not having many hobbies, she did like to draw and she was pretty darn good at it! She enjoyed going to several plays at local theater companies in the area with her mother and her Aunt Ginny. She got to also enjoy several Maine, Cape Cod and PA Amish Country trips with family, but a high school trip to Bermuda was her favorite.

Donna was a graduate of St. Gregory High School, where she was named Valedictorian in her Senior year. Mastering catholic school handwriting, her handwriting was so nice family members wanted her to be the one to address envelopes on invitations! It was just that nice!

Donna is certainly going to be deeply missed by her family and friends.

May God’s grace provide Donna with an eternal life of peace and a quiet soul.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to a charity of your choice in Donna’s name.

Words cannot describe the sorrow felt by Donna's passing. She was one of my closest cousins, so close that I chose her to be Jacci's Godmother. Although Donna was actually my children's cousin not their aunt, they affectionately referred to her as "Auntie Donna". She would come for a visit and I would talk her into staying the night, sometimes for days even! Her riding shotgun and Jacci in toe, we went everywhere together in the late 90's and we had a blast. As years went on, life got in the way and our parents grew older, time spent together became less and less but we remained in communication via phone always. Reality being I will never have time to spend laughing and talking with Donna again is simply gut-wrenching. However, knowing she will forever be with her parents, sister and other loved ones brings a smile to my face. Family is everything and I'm happy Donna is able to spend eternity alongside all of them. I hope she will be in heaven blaring the song" Abracadabra" by Steve Miller Band in her bedroom with her sister Diane again, getting dressed to go out partying – a fond memory I have of them as a child. May she rest in the sweetest peace free from stress and worry.
