Obituary for Gerard Warren Averill

Gerard W. “Jerry” Averill, 62, of Los Angeles, formerly of Milton, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on February 12, 2026, in Los Angeles.

The beloved son of the late Mary T. (Devine) Averill and Warren F. Averill, Gerard was raised in Milton and graduated from Milton High School. He studied graphic arts at Blue Hills Community College, earned a bachelor’s degree in art and film from the University of Massachusetts Boston, and completed the prestigious Film Program at New York University.

Gerard built a distinguished 30-year career in the film industry as a Locations Manager. Known for his creativity, professionalism, and warm spirit, he developed lasting friendships throughout the film community.

A proud United States Marine, he carried the discipline and quiet strength of his service throughout his life.

An artist at heart, Gerard loved nature, art, travel, sports, and swimming. He treasured time spent with family and friends on both the East and West Coasts and held a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his brother, sisters, and many loving family members.

A Christian Mass celebrating Gerard’s life will be held on Friday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton. A military burial will follow at Milton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerard’s memory may be made to the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation in Los Angeles.
