Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti

With heartfelt sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Helene Laure Lucien, affectionately known to all as “Manmie,” who departed this life on May 31, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on July 5, 1936, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Helene Laure lived a life of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a woman of grace and resilience who nurtured those around her with warmth, wisdom, and a steady spirit. Her home was a place of peace, her heart always open, and her love unconditional.

Manmie was preceded in death by her loving husband Dervil Lucien, and their cherished children: Jean Jules Lucien, Lucille Lucien, Yolene Lucien, Jean Claude Lucien, Merlek Lucien, and Yola Lucien. Though we mourn her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is joyfully reunited with them.

She is survived by her loving children:

Mireille Lucien, Ruth Lucien Dubois, Vanyola Lucien, Marie José Lucien, Dervil Lucien Jr., Natacha Thomas, Helene Laure Miss, and Malaika Lucien

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren:

Robert Dubois, Rudolph Dubois, Bruce Dubois, Analyssa Lucien, Maximilian Miss, Nahalia Thomas, Laura-Andrea Thomas, Vanessa Jean, Mario Jean, Patrice Lucien, Joanne Lucien, Patricia Jean Baptiste, Clara Lucien, Valery Lucien, Mona Lisa Lucien, Vladimir Lucien, Claude Ronald Lucien, Jimitry Lucien, and Felix Jr Vancol

And through her great-grandchildren:

Noah Lucien, Malachi Jean Baptiste, Michaela Jean Baptiste, Mayaleah Jean Baptiste, Moriah Jean Baptiste, Nyla Lucien, Luca Lucien, Kelis Richardson, Jasmine Richardson, Lisabelle Mathew, Sophia Mathew, Eliza Mathew, and Ryan Mathew

Helene Laure, our Manmie, was the heart of our family. Her presence brought comfort, her words carried wisdom, and her faith set an example we will carry forward for generations. Her life was a living testimony of love, service, and strength. Though she has gone to rest, her spirit lives on in each of us.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the First Haitian Baptist Church of Boston to honor the legacy of a life so beautifully lived.

Well done, good and faithful servant
