Obituary for James "Jim" P. Reardon

James “Jim” Reardon, 79, of Sunset Beach, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on August 15, 1946, Jim proudly served his country in the military before beginning his civilian career on the Massachusetts State Turnpike. It was there he met the love of his life, Elaine. After their marriage, Jim utilized the GI Bill to earn his degree in Business from Boston State College.

In 1969, Jim began his career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Department of the State Auditor’s Office as a Junior Auditor. His dedication and integrity led him to retire in 2003 as a White Collar Crime Specialist, working in partnership with the Massachusetts State Police.

An avid golfer, Jim fulfilled his dream of "year-round golf" when he and Elaine moved from Hanover to Sunset Beach, NC in 2013. He cherished his time on the course until health issues eventually sidelined his game. Still, his love for life, family, and friends remained unwavering.

Jim was a proud and active member of the Pembroke Council #6267, Knights of Columbus, where he served two terms as Grand Knight. His loyalty, warmth, and sense of humor touched all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Elaine, his daughter and son-in-law Angela and Paul Delaney, and his beloved grandchildren Jack, Julia, Jeffrey, and Jorja, all of Milton. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Mary Reardon, and his son, Jamie.

Jim’s legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton Wednesday October 22nd at 10:30 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hour will be held at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, prior to the mass from 9-10 AM.

I worked w Jim on my very first audit in 1985. We had slot of laughs driving around Onset Beach at lunch time in r summer intern Jeff's 1965 mustang convertible. I told Jeff he would never find a.girlfriend driving w us in the car. We had lots of fun. Took him to the Red Lion Inn to celebrate his retirement. John and I visited with him and Charlie Miller in Myrtle Beach. So glad he retired early and enjoyed his time with Elaine in NC. Thanks for the Memories Jim.
