Obituary for John F. Russo
John F. Russo, 73, of Milton passed away May 3, 2025, after a long illness.
John was born on January 28, 1952, the first of three sons born to the late John C. and Anna M (Doyle) Russo. Born and raised in Milton, John attended St. Agatha’s school and graduated from Milton High School. John was a long-time technician for “Ma Bell” and then Verizon until his retirement in 2010. After retirement John went right back to work at The Range in Hingham combining his love of golf and a friendly chat. John filled much of his free time taking care of others, delivering Meals on Wheels to the homebound in Milton, taking care of pets, and helping out his neighbors.
John was known for his mischievous smile, his sense of humor and quick wit. John showed his love through humor and acts of service and he was generous with both. He was a quiet and steadfast caretaker to family and friends, neighbors and the people on “his route.” There was no such thing as above and beyond when he thought someone could use his help.
John balanced his outgoing side, with a quiet life of yard work, walking Wollaston beach, hitting a bucket of balls, and conquering crossword puzzles. Beyond these simple pleasures, John’s grandchildren were far and away his greatest pride and joy. He delighted in every accomplishment and antic. Even his weakest days could be brightened by a picture or an anecdote about one of the kids.
John was the beloved father of Leanne Dennison and her husband Adam of Melrose and John Russo of Key West, FL. Cherished grandfather of Abigail, James and Sara. Loving brother of Philip Russo and his wife Ginny and Paul Russo. Uncle to William and Carolyn. John is also survived by several cousins.
