Obituary for John Galvao

John Galvao was born on January 18, 1969 in Dorchester MA a beloved son to the late Alerio and Julia Galvao.

John grew up in Dorchester and attended St Patrick School Dearborn Middle and Madison Park High School and received his degree in construction work.

He was employed at various jobs, most recently working for nonprofit organizations mission in helping the homeless, and advocating for the people battling drugs and alcohol. He also enjoyed office work.

John was a beautiful person who truly loved to have fun. He had a youthful soul who loved to dance, go out to clubs and was never afraid to do something that looked very dangerous to attempt to do. As the youngest of six siblings he had a very competitive spirit. John’s favorite hobbies were going to the movies, swimming at Mason pool, roller skating, traveling to Cape Verde Island, break dancing, and enjoyed past times with the Upham’s Corner /Dudley Street friends and with family during holidays and special occasions. He embraced tough challenges in his life without complaint. Whenever a family member needed support, he was there—ready to help in any way he could no matter how big or small. His kindness, strength, and steady presence were felt by all who knew him.

John will be remembered as someone who was always confident in the words he spoke, the actions he took, and his ability to live his life to the fullest.

John’s life was one of love, service, and quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the family he nurtured, the people he touched, and the example he set for all who were blessed to know him.

John is survived by his son Jovonni Tyler Galvao, siblings Aguinaldo Galvao, Deolinda Galvao Ruiz, Alerio Galvao, Carlos Galvao, and Ana Galvao. I remember around 1981 when I first met Jonnhy at the Dearborn Middle. He used to 'try to communicate with us, particularly I, the new arrivals from CaboVerde, in his broken Criolo. Johny was a warm, genuine and sincere person luved 'his swift neck snap' and infectious smile. Descansa en Paz e que Deus dau bo Canto de Gloria

I want to take a moment to thank GOD and let you know how much you are appreciated. Thank you, Johnny, for your constant support and for being an amazing brother. I treasure our countless memories together, both the good times and the tough times. Love you, bro! You're not a pain, you're a bonus. Thanks for always having my back and played major part in getting my ass whipped because you LoL. You're my best friend and brother. We fought and hugged it out. I'm proud of the last hug you gave me and you said Sis I love you. Every day because in that hug I know I have done the best job of being your sister. It is an honor to have you as my brother. You are a true angel to me, and I'm extremely grateful to you more than words can express. Few people possess the considerate, unselfish, loving heart that you have and fewer are willing to give so much of themselves. I thank you for your kindness and for being the wonderful amazing person that you are. I know I'm blessed to have you in my life. Thank you for believing in me, thank you for guiding me and pushing me to be the best version of myself. Your encouragement, compassion and support will forever be remembered and cherished. Love you Sister Ana Galvao
