In addition to his legal career, John was dedicated to education. He taught law at Boston State College and later served as an instructor at Salem State College, where he attained the rank of Associate Professor.
John was a longtime member of the Milton Hoosic Club. Proud of his Irish heritage, John (Richard) held dual citizenship in Ireland and maintained a home on Valentia Island, County Kerry.
