Obituary for Margaret Ensley
Margaret Ensley, born on February 13, 1939, in Mississippi, and passed away on March 9, 2026 in Boston, MA. She was the eldest of four children to the late James and Ruby Barbour. At 18, she married the late Isiah Ensley Jr., who he always referred to as his bride. During their union of 62 years they had two daughters, Carla Miller and Tammy Hemingway of Boston, MA.
Shortly after having children, they migrated up north to Boston, MA, where they purchased their first home.
Margaret was a devoted member of Greater Life Baptist Church for 35 years, where she earned the title as “mother of the church” under the leadership of Apostle John Farris. She worked as a CNA at Boston State Hospital, William Carter Company as a Sales Associate, and retired from Bradlees as a Front End Manager.
In her leisure time, she cherished family activities such as fishing and gatherings, she also enjoyed cooking and gardening.
As the matriarch of her family, Margaret played a pivotal role in guiding and nurturing many through life’s journey. She wore many hats with grace and never complained. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Although she has two biological children, she was a mother to many. Her love for her daughters, grandchildren, family, and friends was endless. Margaret was known for her captivating stories that kept you full of laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters: Ethel DeShields (Peggy), Bertha Barbour, and Billy Jean Jackson. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Carla Miller and Tammy Hemingway; three grandchildren: Tameisha Ensley, Marquis Ensley, and Kory James Young; one great-granddaughter: Shania Ensley; one great-great-granddaughter: Sevyn Larkins; and one great-great-grandson: Syncere Larkins. She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Morris and Ella Jo Williams; five brothers-in-law: Randolph (Barbara) Parker, Eldgridge Lee (Renee) Parker, Al (Vivian) Parker, David (Sheila) Parker, and George (Pam) Parker; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Service, Friday, March 20, 2026, in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, at 11 o'clock. Visiting Hour 10 - 11am. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery, Boston.
