Obituary for Margaret T. Oldfield

Margaret T. Oldfield, lovingly called Gigi, died peacefully at age 88 at her home surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Oldfield and the devoted mother of the late Amy Oldfield. She is survived by her family - Josh and Stephanie Oldfield, Maggie and Phil Laing, Hanna and Rick Ricciardi, Bobbi and Mark Wegner, all of Milton. Gigi was the cherished grandmother to Frankie Oldfield, Chandler and George Laing, Rob, Josh, Emory, and Reese Ricciardi, and Cameron, Tyler, and Evie Wegner.

Gigi was born and raised in Cambridge, MA to proud Irish immigrants, Michael J. and Margaret T (O'Sullivan) O'Connor, and had four siblings. She earned her master’s degree in early education and loved teaching whether it was in the classroom or at her home. Gigi was a dedicated mother having happily resigned from her career to care for Amy, who was born with developmental disabilities. She was involved in the Garden Club, Milton Library, and the Milton Historical Society. She was also a devoted parishioner at St Elizabeth’s Church. She was both warm and kind while having the fierceness necessary to advocate. Gigi loved vacations by the ocean, cooking a good meal, and always appreciated a sarcastic joke. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, Tuesday April 2 at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited.
