Obituary for Margaret "Teenie" (Murray) Fitzgerald
Margaret “Teenie” Fitzgerald (Murray), a woman of profound faith, sharp wit, and endless compassion, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 31, 1936, in County Longford, Ireland, Margaret spent her childhood on the family farm. As a teenager, she moved to London, England, before embarking on a journey across the Atlantic in the 1960s to build a life in the United States. She settled in Dorchester, Massachusetts, which became her cherished home for the remainder of her life.
It was within Boston's vibrant Irish community that Margaret met the love of her life, her late husband Bernard Fitzgerald, on a dance hall floor. Dancing remained one of her greatest joys, and for decades, she could be found bringing light and rhythm to the Irish Social Club. Her kitchen was the heart of her home—a place always filled with the warmth of a fresh cup of tea and the sound of Margaret singing along to the Irish Hour on WROL radio.
A woman of immense integrity, Margaret possessed a steadfast sense of duty, an unwavering commitment to doing what was right, and a deep-seated kindness that she extended to everyone she met. Margaret also possessed a sharp, delightful wit that brought laughter to those around her, and she loved to travel, always eager to see new places and revisit old roots. She loved children, animals and singing to her flowers.
Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Fitzgerald. She was the devoted mother of Barry Fitzgerald and his wife Brenda of Weymouth, and Eileen Femino and her partner Bob of Plymouth.
She was the dear sister of Eileen Wilson of Foxborough, and was predeceased by her brothers Tom Murray, Sean Murray, and Eddie Murray.
Her legacy of love lives on through her five grandchildren: Felicia Femino of Plymouth, Dominique Quintal and her husband Nick of Kingston, Victoria Femino and her partner Ben of Clinton, Maggie Fitzgerald and her partner Jared of Weymouth, and Erin Fitzgerald of Weymouth. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Raelynn and Renn, who brought immense joy to her later years.
She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Margaret’s kindness, grace, and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed but forever celebrated by her family, her many friends in the Irish community, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
