Obituary for Neal E. Dolan
Neal E. Dolan passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, craftsmanship, and a deep love for his family.
A Life in the Skies and Across the Seas Born in Boston, Neal turned his lifelong passion for aviation into a distinguished career as a pilot for American Airlines. His love for flight extended far beyond his professional life; alongside his beloved wife, Carolyn, Neal traveled the world. While they enjoyed many cruises and international vacations, Paris remained their most cherished destination, a city that captured their hearts time and again.
Craftsmanship and Community Neal was a man who took pride in his surroundings. He was never happier than when he and Carolyn were working together to maintain their property in Falmouth, transforming their Cape house into a true showplace. In addition to his home, Neal had a renowned passion for Ford Mustangs, specifically the 1970 model. A talented restorer, he once owned seven Mustangs—one for each of his children—alongside his pride and joy: a red convertible reserved for him and Carolyn.
A Scholar of History and Film A man of intellectual curiosity, Neal was a devoted student of Roman and military history. In his Milton home, busts of Marcus Aurelius and Julius Caesar famously stood watch over the dining room table. He was also a connoisseur of classic cinema and could often be found watching Turner Classic Movies with a glass of wine, sharing detailed backstories of the actors with anyone nearby. His favorite film, Midnight in Paris, perfectly blended his love for the city, the soundtrack, and the magic of history.
Family and Legacy Neal is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his children, Mary Lou Dolan and her wife Pat Ramos, Michael Dolan, Shannon Atsinger, Maggie Dolan and her faithful companion Murfe Finbar, Patrick O’Neill and his wife Michelle, and Terence O’Neill.
He was the proud grandfather of Emily, Lizzie, Erin, John, and Liam, and was predeceased by his grandson, Christopher. He is also survived by his brother, Vincent Dolan of Weymouth, and was preceded in death by his brothers John and Paul Dolan.
