Obituary for Peter Rizzi

Peter Rizzi, 85, of Canton, formally of Milton, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Peter was the beloved husband of Paula Rizzi (Tate). They were happily married for 54 years and always faced the joys and sorrows of life as a team.

Peter was born in Monte San Biagio, Italy, a small town south of Rome where, as a small boy, he experienced the perils of war. He was the oldest of four children and emigrated to America at the age of 14. His family settled in Dedham where he graduated from high school and worked in the printing industry until Uncle Sam came knocking. He served two years in Korea during the beginning of the Viet Nam era.

After his military service he returned to the printing industry and several years later as the printing industry changed due to technology, he worked for the USPS from which he retired.

He was an avid gardener and produced an annual vegetable garden that was the envy of the neighborhood. He also enjoyed photography and took many photos during his tour of duty in Korea where he captured the great landscape of the country and the spirit of the people.

He was the proud father of two boys, Peter and his wife Jessi of Mansfield, and Matthew of San Diego, CA.

He is survived by two sisters, Jennifer Finocchio and her husband Mario of Hyde Park and Corinna Rizzi Cavicchio and her husband Richard of Falmouth and Naples Florida and predeceased by his brother Valentino Rizzi (Dino).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Mary of the Hills Church, 29 Saint Mary’s Road, Milton, Tuesday March 26 at 10:00 AM. Family and friends invited. Visiting hour prior to the mass at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Interment at Milton Cemetery.
