Samuel Leroy Matthews passed peacefully from this life the night of February 19th. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family during the last days of his life. Samuel was born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago to Exeleta Antoine and Carlton Mitchell.

He is survived by his beloved wife Camille; his daughters Marcia, Melinda and Melissa; stepchildren Mario, Nicole, Natalie, Rawson, and Kenrick; son-in-law Maldon; grandchildren Malik, Christian, Carissa, Isabelle, and Ethan; 11 step-grandchildren; brothers Ifill, Michael, and Raymond; sisters Claudette, Josephine, Jenny and Esther; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, former wife Claudette; and brothers Edward and Oswald.

From an early age, Samuel Leroy had a strong love for music, cooking, wrestling and gardening. He was always the in-house photographer at our family and friend’s events. He ensured he captured memories. He was known in the community for fixing anything, although he was an electrician by trade. After migrating to the United States, he met and married his current wife Camille Matthews and worked for Swissport at John F. Kennedy Airport until retirement.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find strength and comfort in the assurance that he knew Christ Jesus as his Savior.

A Funeral Service will be held at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Dorchester, Monday March 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends invited. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Interment Fairview Cemetery.
