Obituary for Sylvia M. Scott

Sylvia M. Scott died on January 7, 2026. She was born to the late Emily Johnson and Chester Jones in Boston, Massachusetts on October 3, 1942.

Sylvia M. Scott, 83, of Boston, MA, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on October 3, 1942, in Boston, MA, she worked for the City of Boston for several decades, retiring as the Housing Manager for Boston Housing Authority. She recently became a devoted member of New Mount Calvary Church under the leadership of Apostle Lincoln Wright, and a devoted member of Mt. Zion Chapter 21, Order of the Eastern Star. She held numerous positions within the Eastern Stars during her many decades with the organization, and in 1996 she was proud to be elected and serve as the Worthy Matron of the chapter.

She loved to dance, celebrate birthdays, and enjoy a good laugh with family and friends, and she always put her family first. She cherished her siblings and her children, and though she experienced the loss of many of those dear to her, her love and spirit remained strong. She is survived by her three children: Walter Scott, Jr., Azan Scott and Roberto Scott; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her siblings: Mildred Manerson and Michelle Johnson, and scores of nieces and nephews - plus five godchildren. She was preceded in death by her first child and only beloved daughter Sonia Scott, twin sister Eileen Green, husband Walter Scott, Sr., and brothers Aldean, Fredrick, Authur and Keith.

Mommy... be free, be strong, be proud of who you have been, know that you will be mourned and missed, that no one can replace you, that you have loved... and are beloved. We pray that God gives us the strength to accept that our Syl...Mom...Nanni in gone physically and to please give us strength to rejoice that she is at peace and in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. Sylvia Scott. Your grandmother had a huge impact on my life. She was one of the most kindest, compassionate person's that I knew. She took me under her wings and validated all of my hopes and dreams! She told me it's not only blood that makes you family!! And every since that day, she became my BIG Momma. We had lots of fun together at church and other activities. This is very hard one for me because she's last one that I called Momma. Rest in Power Big Momma...You will Never be Forgotten..Mary E.MimsπŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎβ€οΈπŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎπŸ™πŸΎ
