To the Perkins Family, Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your husband and Dad. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Perkins, as an orderly, he was a funny guy with a great sense of humor. In nursing school, I did my OB/GYN clinical rotation at Norwood Hospital. I was a 19 year old kid and Dr.Perkins bought me in to see my first delivery, it was twins. He introduced me as his medical student and let me cut the umbilical cords. I will never forget how comfortable he made me feel and it was an experience I will never forget . My wife Cathy, worked with Dr. Perkins as a nursing assistant on Maternity and loved working with him. May you rest in eternal peace. Mark & Cathy Joseph

I extend my heartfelt sympathy to your family for your loss. I knew Wayne from his participation in several discussion groups at the Boston Athenaeum. His contributions to those meetings over many years were singular. His counsel, when I sought it on one occasion, was perceptive and compassionate and deeply appreciated. He was a generous and thoroughly lovely man whom I admired very much.

I met Wayne through Beacon Hill Seminars. He had such extensive knowledge and always contributed great insight to our subject courses. He was one of those unique people who made the most of his life and talents and contributed so much to this world whether as babies, care of women, or great ideas. I will miss him. Beatrice Nessen

I became an ardent fan of Wayne through the Boston Athenaeum's literary conversations group. When Wayne had a comment to make, we all listened intently. So smart but never a show off or overbearing. Last summer he joined us one last time over a lunch at my summer home in Plymouth, MA. We were so delighted to see him once again (and to enjoy his bottles of Chardonnay). We had a lovely afternoon together and he promised to rejoin us in the fall. But alas, that was our farewell to a lovely and dear friend who brought so much wisdom and kindness to us all. Thank you to the family for sharing him with us. Pat Kennedy

How I will miss Wayne. We shared many rides home from the Boston Athenaeum after Literary Discussion meetings, where he was an engaged and insightful participant. We leaned heavily on Wayne's medical background in those discussions. He could be relied on to bring multiple bottles of Chardonnay to any of our Athenaeum group social gatherings. He was generous to me, once entirely voluntarily bailing me out of a $200 scam I fell for when he had been hacked and I received an email presumably from him. I loved his laugh, and the stories about his work he would tell me on those rides back to Milton. A good man, a well-lived life, and an inspiration to me and I know countless others. -- Carolyn
