Tasjahnaya Khalia Dance, or “Tasji” as her friends and family referred to her, was born August 21, 2001 in Richmond, Virginia. She relocated to Boston Massachusetts in her younger years.
It was here on January 22, 2021 that her life was taken suddenly in Dorchester, at the age of 19. In the days following and up till now in the present, her loss is felt, her presence missed, and our hearts heavier than we could ever have envisioned.
Tasjahnaya was a combination of everything people look to in a daughter, a grandchild, a niece, and a friend. She was funny, smart, and passionate. Most of all, she was loyal to her family and anyone she kept close. Tasji loved her siblings above all else and cared for them. They all looked at her as their protector, their best friend, and most of all…their big sister. Tasjahnaya will be best remembered for two things. One, was her unique sense of style. If it didn’t match, she didn’t wear it. The other was her music, which she pursued fiercely and passionately. She was hungry for it and listening to her songs now gives you a clear indication of just how ambitious she was. Though she’s gone, her music will live on. Her poetic and well-versed words will forever be a way of keeping her alive in memory and spirit. A way for her to still speak to us anytime we wish to hear her voice.
Tasjahnaya was born to parents, Telisha Moore and Kelvin Dance. Granddaughter to Beverly Mattison and Cheryl Dance. She is survived by her loving siblings, Tatiana Moore, Shyheem Moore, J’Shawn Moore, Tierra Durham, J’Mar Durham, and Kayla Dance.
Temporarily in our lives, forever in our hearts. Till we meet again. God Bless you.
